Do you know Him?

Do you know Him?

Thomas said to him, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?” Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.” Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.  —John 14:5-10

I n verse 6, Jesus says in very straightforward terms that we MUST go through Christ in order to be with God.  He is the way – the answer in our battle with sin, the truth – the answer to man’s ignorance, and the life – the answer to man’s mortality (Coffman).  Discussing this verse alone could provide you with a year long Bible study!  What strikes me as I read these verses are the questions from his disciples.  Despite all of the time spent with Jesus and all of the miracles seen by their own eyes, some of the apostles still did not KNOW Jesus.

Do you know Him?  We may think we have a relationship with Jesus, but if by knowing Him is how we get to the Father, then we must evaluate where we’re truly at.  You may be “religious,” but do you have a personal, deep relationship with Jesus?  Are you spending time with Him and allowing God’s Word to change the way you think, speak, act, etc?  Below is a lesson on this topic entitled “Do you know Him?,” as well as a video clip used during that lesson.  As always, feel free to respond or contact us with any comments or questions!
