The Architect – Closing Lesson

Each year our students participate in winter and summer camps that have incredible competitions and activities, and our teens leave these camps feeling rejuvenated and passionate in their personal relationships with God.  Last year our Teen Leaders put their heads together and came up with a program that would bring that fun and excitement to our Teen Ministry not only through these high-powered camps, but throughout the regular school year as well…OCTO.

We have split up our Teen Ministry into 4 separate teams: the Epic Seed, Squirtle Squad, Bajamas, and the OG’s.  Each week these teams will compete in competitions to win the Team Grand Prize – a free trip to the Sequoia’s!  There will also be an Individual Grand Prize this season – free registration to 2012 Summer Teen Camp.  Remember to wear your team shirts and/or colors to these competitions!

Another aspect of our OCTO season is our weekly Missions.  These challenges are given out each week at our Midweek services and will be due the next week.  We will post these Missions each week on this website and on our Facebook page, so be sure to check back here each week to earn these points for your team!

Pick a specific “name of God”…
- What is the name?
- What does it mean?
- Where can it be found (scripture reference)?

Study a time in the Bible where God displayed his power on the battlefield.
- Write a paragraph about how you see the Lord as a “banner” in that instance.

Write your own “Psalm 23″
- Using Psalm 23 as an example, write your own psalm / poem to God.
- Don’t be afraid to make it personal. You’ll have the option to share these at our next Midweek Service if you’d like!

Proof that God is “an emotional being”
- Find a scripture that describes some of God’s emotions – this can be a scripture describing God’s heart toward a particular sin, his reaction to a particular situation or person, etc.  A great example of this is Genesis 6:5-6 which was used in this week’s lesson.
- What emotion(s) does God display in this passage?  How does this prove that God is “an emotional being”

Make a prayer list of…
- The ways you’ve seen God’s power in your life (El Shaddai)
- AND how God has provided for you throughout your life (Jehovah Jireh)
* You will turn this list in, but be sure to use it in your prayer times throughout the week!

Give God your own name:
- What do you think is the most amazing thing about God?  Create a name that describes how you see God (must be original; feel free to use different languages and have fun with it).
- Explain why you have chosen this name, and give at least one scripture to prove this name applies to God.
